Approaching Life with Mindfulness

In a world that is continually moving faster and providing more and more distractions to pull you out of the present moment, it is more important than ever to learn how to be aware of the present moment.  A person can lower stress and enrich their life experience by cultivating this awareness.  In this article, I will try to explain what mindfulness is and give some examples of how to practice a mindful life.

Understanding Mindfulness

Mindfulness is defined as the state of being engaged and fully present in the moment, right now.  Judgment or attachment is not present in relating to your thoughts, emotions, or current external circumstances.  One tries to be aware of the thoughts and feelings every situation brings into our lives from external stimuli and internal thoughts and responses to whatever is happening, and accepting it.

Today, mindfulness has become a mainstream practice and is widely studied and adopted in fields like psychology, medicine, education, and corporate settings. It has proven to be an effective tool for enhancing overall well-being, reducing stress, improving focus, and promoting emotional resilience in the face of life’s challenges. The integration of mindfulness into various secular settings has made it accessible to people from diverse backgrounds and beliefs, making it a universal practice that transcends its original origins.

Benefits of Being Mindful

So many positives come to you when you understand the present moment is all you have. It will help you reduce stress and anxiety because you are eliminated regrets about the past and worry about the future by existing in the only thing you have, the present moment.

By doing this you will also improve your Mental clarity and focus.  Rather than having your thoughts bring up uncontrolled images of yesterday or tomorrow, a person can focus on what today is bringing into life, good or bad, and accept it as a part of life’s experience.  Rather than resist it because it doesn’t match your perception of what life should be.

Our emotions also benefit from the practice of mindfulness, because we start to be aware of the feelings we are experiencing in the moment.  We can learn what each emotion actually is and what thoughts or experiences have brought it to the surface.  Without mindfulness and awareness, we will be a servant to these feelings. Understanding and acceptance puts the power in your hands, so you are in control of what happens.

What you are aware of you control, and what you are not mindful of controls you.  That is the way many deal with their emotions throughout their lives.  The practice of being aware of your experiences throughout the day will enhance the quality and experience of your life.

The Mirror of What You Are

life is a mirrorLife is a mirror, giving what you want and what you are.

This thought has been with me all day. As I think of what I want to write, I am experiencing a conflict that is not that rare. Should I write what I think or write what I think others would like to read? It is a simple choice on the surface, but in reality, it is a constant battle, and it has been going on since I started publishing blogs and letting people read my writing. However, over time, I have to write what I think and not worry about what others think. It is the only honorable thing to do.

Life is a mirror revealing your worst and best.

We all have less than encouraging voices about our abilities and thoughts. For me, they create an audience of negative people who continually judge my work, my thoughts, and my writing. The group is mocking in tone and cruel in practice. That is why there are thousands of essays I have created that were erased or just ignored. So sitting down today, I am writing about this to encourage others to ignore those voices in your life and be your best self. Life is a mirror that can reflect all the good you are and what you do in the world.

Life is a Mirror that reveals negative self-talk.

My negative self-talk is much less prevalent than it used to be, but it still needs to be noticed and combated for my best self to be presented to the world and provide the best thoughts I can that someone might benefit from hearing. Quite often, during a week, I will meet and talk with someone suffering from self-criticism, and the secret to ending it all is merely taking notice of the thoughts and realizing that it is a problem to entertain them. There is no doubt that each idea we welcome will dictate which chemicals release into our brain, which will work to determine our mood.

It is a fact that each thought we entertain will dictate which chemicals are released into our brain, each one working to determine our mood. Life is a mirror that will show these moods clearly to all who take the time to look.

Today concludes that life is a mirror that shows me what I am, and if I listen to negative self-talk about my writing, life, or character, I will never accomplish anything. The mirror of life will show you what you are each day. What do you see in your mirror? Is it someone with characteristics you admire? The admirable is there; you need to look harder if you are not seeing them.

Perhaps you need the eye of your significant other or someone who cares about you to make your positive attributes known. If your people are looking to change you, you need new people. Life is a mirror.

The Gift of Choice

People are given a gift of choice. Some are keenly aware of this and make decisions to understand the power of their choice to move one closer or further away from the life they desire by the honesty, integrity, and character of each of their decisions. Other people move blindly through life with no awareness of the power of their choice. They muddle through situations blaming outside influences, other people, or even something like the weather for their problems. In my observations of life, I am sure that we are in the place we are at, experiencing our lives in the manner we are due, almost exclusively, to the things we allow in our minds and the choices we make because of them.

Responsible or Not?

There is nobody responsible for your situation but you. People who understand this and live this way seem to have much more in their lives than one would want to be accountable for. The choice of responsibility brings you power, and appointing blame somewhere else takes the power of your being away.

People give their power away through blame, judgment, and wishful thinking. Your choice to accept responsibility for your circumstances brings freedom and power. Many events will happen we have no control over, but we always have 100% control over our response to any situation, and it is in this choice all of our power of attitude exists. Placing the blame won’t change anything but give you a negative attitude, place you further from a solution, or understand the lesson the situation teaches you. Or you can let another person or a situation make choices about your emotions, attitude, and thoughts. This choice is exclusively up to you.

Positive or Negative?

The choice to be positive or negative in your thoughts, actions, and attitudes is a decision a person faces continually throughout life. It is my observation most people have slanted one mentality or the other. Not surprisingly, their life circumstances serve them precisely what they seek. Keeping a positive perspective doesn’t make bad things enjoyable, but it will allow you a tool to deal with them in a better way.

A negative attitude will take you to a location of disappointment, sadness, anger, frustration, or somewhere else on that spectrum. A positive attitude won’t change the present circumstances as if by magic, but choosing to look positively will help you find the best path in your life. The tragedy is a tragedy, and pain is pain. It will hurt and be discouraging no matter how you think, but it will not define your life if you focus on the good that is still around in your life. Or you can choose to be miserable and let every “bad” thing that comes along derail you and potentially destroy you. That choice is yours and yours alone.

 Love or Not?

You have a choice to practice love in all situations or to be mean and selfish. Being human provides us with a continuous option to either be open to love or to close ourselves off to the possibilities of love. When we were young, perhaps we found pain in caring or being disappointed with those we loved. So we close our hearts and choose not to let anyone else in. The belief that others will hurt us has led me to a lifetime of relationship failures. I think most people are similar. It is easier and less risky to be on your own in life.

Life is a situation built to be lived in conjunction and connection with other humans. I aim to open up and allow new things and people into my life. As people lean into the possibility of love, they learn to love themselves. We are all the people we were when we were born. Perfect, and here for a reason. It seems life is an experience to remember exactly who we were.

Indeed there are choices in life every day, and the joy we give and receive in life will ultimately result in our ability to choose well or not. My challenge to you is to take a moment this day and every day to be aware the choice exists for you, and you are responsible for them. Good, bad, happy, or sad is all up to you.

Phone Issues

133747The past week has been an eye opening experience for me as I was losing my phone but finding my connection. I did not have access to a phone. As I waited for my phone to be replaced, I had several days where I had no access to other people as I moved about my day. But the bright side was that nobody had access to me either. It was a unique experience that really highlighted our addiction (or at least my addiction) to personalized technology. The process has crept into all parts of our lives and now we scroll around through the mindless posts of Facebook in all of our “down” moments. Life has changed, and with the focus so much on technological devices, I am afraid that many of us are losing our connection to ourselves.

Remembered The Past, No Technology

In the not so distant past, the only way you could reach someone on the phone was to call them at their home. If a person wasn’t at their residence then they were unreachable. You left a message and waited for a reply. When you left a message for me, it could be awhile, as I was never much of a fan of talking on the phone.  As I went

For those who don't know. This is what a phone used to look like.
For those who don’t know. This is what a phone used to look like.

through the past few days,  I was reminded of those times. There is a certain freedom that people enjoyed before the electronic tether bound our hands, eyes and attention to the glow of a cell phone.

It seemed there was no chance anyone could interrupt what we were doing. My focus was not distracted by a message or a neat post on Facebook or Instagram. You never realize how much time you spend scrolling through foolishness until you don’t have that. It really took me back to a time before cell phones and the experience was a pleasant one.

What I Noticed Without Electronics

We are all creatures of habit, and the phone has become a habit that I think is not providing the healthiest of lifestyles. I was Put-your-phone-awaycontinually recognizing how much I used my phone and bringing that into my consciousness. Messages from Facebook, texts, phone calls, or many other forms of social media, are coming in at all times and they become a kind of addiction. Breaking it for a few days was an experience that revealed how controlled I am.

I found that the time I wasted scrolling mindlessly through my Facebook feed could be replaced quite easily with reading or thinking or having a conversation with someone in person. The amount of time and the things that I enhanced in my life during those days was really phenomenal. I noticed that with no phone or technology, I had more focus on all more substantial  things. I was able to increase my focus and creativity.

Can’t Fight Technology

I know that it is unrealistic to even for me to live in a world with no technology. But It is completely realistic

Too much of this and not enough conversation.
Too much of this and not enough conversation.

to live in a world with a tighter personal control on technology. I am going to be practicing some new things with technology. I already leave technology in my car when I go to the gym. That is my time to get physically healthy and not think about distracting or foolish things. No calls about business or even mindless chatter.

So I am going to add some more noncontact times to my life. One of my worst is first thing in the morning, I would scroll through Facebook as a part of my morning routine, but now I have found that time is much better spent reading something of substance. It gets the day off to a much better start.

In the End, Your Connection is Up To You

manycallers-mobilepic
How could you cut down your use of technology and improve your life?

I am not sure how our society has gotten to this point. Go anywhere and almost all people are staring into some sort of technological device. That makes the actual human contact, eye contact, connections very limited. I think that it also makes our lives a little less rich and a lot less fun. People and their unique personalities are the garnish that makes life so delicious. Through technology, all relationships are filtered and often you only see a fabricated version of the person.  In real life encounters, there are more substantial connections built and thoughts conveyed.

I encourage all people to cut the electronic tether for large portions of the day and replace it with activities that lead to growth and interaction.  There was a time when technology didn’t invade all of life and that is a place where your freedom just might live.  How could you cut down your use of technology and improve your life?

Books to Grow Your Mind

There is nothing that has allowed me to grow and understand life on a new level more than the books I read. They are a portal into knowledge and understanding that I can only hope to comprehend adequately. I know that my personal growth has stemmed directly from my experience with books and I wanted to share a few of the most recently read that I can highly recommend to all interested parties.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

f5b978_861eea61847e45c39af1e1a019db3481This book provides simple and sensible guidance about life. It delves into the collective dream of society and the personal beliefs that we have agreed with and given power to. Yet many of these agreements are unhealthy and untrue, yet we allow them to stay a part of our lives. The book is based on Toltec Wisdom.

The four agreements are the ideas all people should adopt.  1. Be impeccable with your words. – Your words have power and how you use them is important.  2. Don’t take anything personally. People’s behavior is based on their experience and has nothing to do with you.  3. Don’t make assumptions Make sure you ask questions, speak your mind and never assume that you are sure about someone else’s thoughts. Many problems can be avoided. 4. Always do your best. This is simple advice but how many people do this in all that they do? Your best is effort is going to vary due to energy, health, time of day or any number of other factors, but if you continually give your best effort life gives back to you its best effort as well.

You can read this book over and over and get new things out of it. Also, lead to me reading other Don Miguel Ruiz books The Mastery of Love and The Fifth Agreement and also a book by Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr. called The Five Levels of Attachment.

The Biology of Belief by Bruce H. Lipton

bruce-lipton-quote-3A cellular biologist, Lipton started to make some radical discoveries about the behavior of cells. They didn’t work as he believed and his experiments led to his belief that what people believe affects their cellular makeup for everything from susceptibility to disease to how happy we are with our lives.  The basics are that our development has a lot more to do with our beliefs than it does with our DNA. It is an eye opening thought and supports the findings of Quantum Physics that our power as observer dictates our reality. Worth a read because it is a positive, empowering book. You are in control of your thoughts.

Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins

Personally, I find Tony Robbins annoying, but I love his message. Tony Robbins does a great job tony-robbins-quotes-41presenting you with steps that you can take in order to become better at what you are looking to improve at. There are many Robbins books out there, this one was written in the late 1990’s but the advice is still relevant today. If you want to be the best that you can be, this is a good place to start.  An example dealing with problems: people have issues dealing with their problems when they think the problem is permanent no problem is permanent big or small, pervasive, no one problem controls your whole life or personal, a problem is a challenge to learn from not a personal defect in our personality.

Robbins does a great job in providing simple to understand keys for a problem and gives you a place to start making changes. And of course, there is a giant within all of us. He also has a great process for changing beliefs that can help eliminate limiting thoughts. You will definitely have more tools to be successful after reading this book.

 The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

the-alchemist-quotes-deep-wise-sayings-testGreat little read that tells a vital story. Each of us has a personal legend and we need to take action to make it come into reality. Having faith in life and the world will allow a person to find all of their personal power. It is a story that all can relate to and makes you look at your personal legend. It was probably not made by watching television or losing yourself in modern media.  We are all looking for the hidden treasure that will make our lives special, but the journey is always the real treasure, as much as the destination. Positive, powerful and life altering are words I would use to describe this quick little read. It is good for the soul and will have an impact on your life. I couldn’t recommend a book higher.

The Road Less Traveled by Scott M. Peck

155061_508544769168567_1480336927_nThis book was written in the 70’s I think, but its message is true for today. It begins by warning that there is always difficulties in life and once we accept that fact, it tends to not affect us as much anymore. This book is a guide to developing a person’s true self-building more meaningful relationships and providing an understanding of your actions.  I like books that provide actions that help us along the spiritual path, I find this book a great help.

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life by Dr. Wayne Dyer

wayne-dyerThis project by the late Wayne Dyer provides an in-depth interpretation of Lao Tzu and the Tao Te Ching. The power of the Tao is all around us and the simple verses of this document allow for deep thought and personal growth on each page. Dr. Dyer does a nice job providing a connection to the modern world from each and every one of the 81 verses. Each time you read it, there are new insights that can help you develop as a person and contribute more to your family and the world. You can, in fact, change your thoughts and change your life for the positive each and every day.

William George Jordan- Must Read

I have read somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 books on various topics involving ideas and practices

William George Jordan
William George Jordan

for improving your life in some way, and one of the first was written by William George Jordan. It is an experience that I credit with fueling the desire to learn more and to begin to notice how AI thought and what I was thinking.  The Majesty of Calmness, The Power of Truth, Self Control, Its Kinship and Majesty, The Trusteeship of Life or The Kingship of Self-Control, would .all be great for your mental growth and prosperity.

William George Jordan lived during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.  His thoughts provide outstanding connections to life today and wonderful food for the mind.  I highly recommend him for your kindle today it will help build your confidence and show you how to improve your self-esteem!  Below are some of the quotes that I liked from the book so far.  I will challenge you that if you read this book you will not be able to stop yourself from being a better person and making positive changes in your life. It’s impossible. There is also a video containing just a few of the thoughts of WJG. Enjoy. I think it will be good for your soul.  You will start to think on a different level.

Some quotes From William George Jordan

” Life is not really what comes to us, but what we get from it.”

“Man is placed into this world not as a finality but as a possibility.”

“Man in his weakness is the creature of circumstances: Man in his strength is the creator of circumstances.”

“I am a great human soul with endless possibilities.”

“The greatest of all control is self-control.”

“Will he be king or will he be slave?  The answer lies with him.”

“True friendship is rare; its great value is in a crisis, —-like a lifeboat.  Many a boasted friend has proved a leaking, worthless “lifeboat” when the storm of adversity might make him useful.”

“How will I let that poverty or wealth affect me?  If that trial or deprivation has left me better, truer, nobler, then, —-poverty has been riches, failure has been a success.  If wealth has come to me and has made me  vain, cynical, closing from me all the tenderness of life, all the channels of higher development, of possible good to my fellow-man, making me the mere custodian of a money-bag, then, wealth has lied to me, it has been failure, not success; it has not been riches, it has been dark, treacherous poverty that stole from me even Myself.”

“All things become for us then what we take from them.”

“Failure is one of God’s educators.”

“The failure of a caterpillar is the success of a butterfly.”

“It is at night, in the darkest hours, those preceding dawn, that plants grow best, that they most increase in size.  May this not be one of Nature’s gentle showings to man of the times when he grows best, of the darkness of failure that is evolving into the sunlight of success.”

“Let us fear only the failure of not living the right as we see it, leaving the results to the guardianship of the Infinite.”

“Many of the rivers of our greatest prosperity and growth have had their source and their trickling increase into volume among the dark, gloomy recesses of our failure.”

“I will do each day, in every moment, the best I can by the light I have: I will ever seek more truth, and ever live as best I can in harmony with the truth as I see it.  If my pathway then lie in the shadow of trial, sorrow and suffering.  I shall have the restful peace and the calm strength of one who has done his best, who can look back upon the past with no pang of regret, and who has heroic courage in facing the results, whatever they be, knowing that he could not make them different. “

“The man who is seeking ever to do his best is the man who is keen, active, wide-awake, and aggressive.  He is ever watchful of himself in trifles: His standard is not “What will the world say?—but—“Is it worthy of me!”

“Education, in its highest sense, is conscious training of mind or body to act unconsciously.  It is conscious formation of mental habits, not mere acquisition of information.”

“Man is the creator of his own happiness; it is the aroma of life lived in harmony with high ideals.  For what a man has, he may be dependent on others: what he is, rests with him alone.”

Gossip is one of the popular crimes that has caused infinitely more sorrow in life than—murder. It is drunkenness of the tongue; it is assassination of reputations. It runs the cowardly gamut from mere ignorant, impertinent intrusion into the lives of others to malicious slander.”

The Year I Learned to Write

What can you do today that you were not capable of a few years ago?

Capable

When I think back to where exactly I was 365 days ago, it never ceases to amaze me the jagged artwork that change has woven into the tapestry of my life.  Each seemingly unconnected event has worked to put me exactly where I am supposed to be.

Many philosophies support the idea of a preconceived plan for everyone. I am not sure about that yet, but sometimes it seems like things fall into place in ways that you would never believe. So here are some of the things that I can do today that I was not capable of a few years ago.

Blogging

blog-cartoonThe first and most obvious is blogging. I had heard of it a year ago but had no conception of what a community stood behind WordPress.

It was really an accident I ever found out about it at all. Or was it?  I had written a bit on my website but never participated in blogging.

I was too busy or too afraid or both to write on a regular basis and then kind of call attention to it.  Reading other people’s thoughts and commenting on them.

It is like reading a book and being able to initiate conversation with the author as you move through it.  I love that type of interaction. I encourage it and try hard to be grateful for each comment I get.  This has been a life changer and 365 days ago I was incapable of doing this.

Writing What I Think

For those who don't know this is a typewriter, it is a keyboard with no computer.
For those who don’t know this is a typewriter, it is a keyboard with no computer.

There was a time not that long ago when I wouldn’t dare to write something that I really thought down anywhere, let alone on a public blog.  I had many negative voices in my head telling me: Nobody cares what you think.  That makes no sense. You are the only one in the world who believes that.  Nobody could possibly understand that.   As you can see, I was a bundle of confidence when it came to writing.  It was as if the Universe were conspiring to push me into writing about my thoughts.  It started with freelance writing, which forced me to write a large quantity of posts last summer in a relatively short amount of time.  This forced me to publish many things anonymously which I found to be quite liberating. It removed the negative voices completely and I could look at my writing from a pretty unemotional and detached view.  Then after the summer I moved to a newer phase of writing at the urging of a friend I started to write about the things I thought about.   Like taking the smallest snowball and rolling it through the snow, I took my ideas and started to craft my thoughts into posts for my website.  It started with a project and ended with me becoming involved in the world of WordPress. A year ago I was incapable of writing this post it has been an expressive year.

Being a Coffee Shop Author

Any old coffee shop will do I hope I see you there!!
Any old coffee shop will do I hope I see you there!!

One of the best parts of writing for me is that some of the best thoughts I have are written in coffee shops and I was fortunate through fate to visit a number of them all over New England over that past year.

A year ago I might have felt awkward, and self-conscious about sitting and writing in a nice coffee shop. Today, all I need is electricity and the internet and I can write quite easily and comfortably.

This transformation was by necessity so I started to get used to going into new cities and towns and finding a place that offered free wi-fi and then writing my mind out.  It made me a bit of money but more importantly it allowed me to improve my writing and gave me many great ideas about topics I should be writing about.

I have my favorite chains of coffee shop to write in and it would be difficult to choose just one.  Coffee shop chains are designed to handle the writing kind.  Individually owned coffee shops are too worried about the space you are consuming to cater to you.  A year ago I never would have known this or cared. I can write in almost any Tim Horton’s, Starbucks, or Dunkin Donuts in the world.

Enjoying the Moment and Going with the Flow

marjorie-ray-hinckley-quote-about-enjoying-lifeI have been working on this for several years, but in the last year I have put it into practice as often as I can.  I have a good friend to thank for this because hanging around with them you never knew from one day to the next what was going to happen.  It allowed me to enjoy the moment that was happening right now.  The moment may be gone in an instant.  There was also an acceptance of whatever came and enjoying it no matter what. Or at least appreciating the experience even if it wasn’t the greatest and most fun.   Most things however can be enjoyed, and a year ago I wouldn’t have been capable of enjoying them.  The difference was that I learned to let go of what I thought should be happening and accept what was happening.   This was definitely not an easy process and I still work on it today, but a year ago, I was not even close to this.

Gratitude is the Attitude

gratitude-journa&#1I have written about this before but it is true, that adopting an attitude of gratitude and experiencing heart-felt gratitude for what you do have, rather than focusing and feeling bad about what you don’t have is a pathway to not only enjoying life but to having more of the things you like in it.

I have been true to my gratitude journal since I first wrote about it and there have been things happening that I never would have thought of.  I believe that positive energy we create translates to others and makes all experiences better.  This begins for me with gratitude for all that is happening in my life.  I never would have tried to keep a journal about it a year ago, or to share that I did this as well.  You can be critical all that you want, but if you are that way, you probably are more worried about what you don’t have than what you do.  I am glad I am not in that frame of mind anymore, this year has allowed that to disappear.

I could continue to write a small book about this topic and I am sure that I am not uniques in this.  A year is a long period of time for some and a short period of time for others but we all experience changes every year of our lives.  I hope that I notice and enjoy all of the changes that come my way in the year to come.

What can you do today that you were not capable of a year ago?

Day 10

Who knows what this next trip around the sun will bring.

My Reading List

A reading list is quite important. Over my recent history, I have been on a mission of learning, a quest to improve myself and to understand why life works the way that it does.  I wish that I knew the wisest man in the world, who could simply relay all of the vital information I need to know to me.  Unfortunately, I don’t think that person exists, and I don’t think that the experience would be quite as vital or memorable as it has been.  I have traveled many miles in the distance of understanding and followed many paths by using only my mind and my reading list.  The vehicle which has allowed me to do this has been the gift of literacy and the knowledge imparted to me from the wisest people who have ever thought thoughts.  I wanted to compile a list of all of the books I have read that have contributed to my journey of self discovery.  So that if you are looking for knowledge you will find out if you need to read these books or not.

Top 10 John Wooden Quotes

John Wooden Quotes
Coach Wooden Teaches Lew Alcindor

I find  former UCLA Coach John Wooden quotes particularly inspiring and true.  For teamwork, hard work, leadership, faith or success, you can’t go wrong with looking for some advice from the late, great John Wooden.   First below you will find a top ten list that was released in the Christian Science Monitor of their favorite John Wooden quotes.

Without further ado my top 10 John Wooden Quotes…

10. Failure is not fatal but failure to change might be.

9. Ability is a poor man’s wealth.

8. It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen.

7. Don’t measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability.

6. What you are as a person is far more important that what you are as a basketball player.

5. You can’t live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.

4. Talent is God given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful.

3. Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

2. Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.

1. Never mistake activity for achievement.

Here are a few more John Wooden Quotes that I like:

“Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.”

“If you’re not making mistakes, then you’re not doing anything. I’m positive that a doer makes mistakes.”

“You can’t let praise or criticism get to you. It’s a weakness to get caught up in either one.”

“Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there.”

“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.”

“The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.”

‘The main ingredient of stardom is the rest of the team.’

‘Although I wanted my players to work to win, I tried to convince them they had always won when they had done their best.’

‘Young people need models, not critics.’

‘Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.’

‘Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.’

‘If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?’

‘The best way to improve the team is to improve us.’

I hope you enjoyed my collection of John Wooden Quotes!!
