A Life Is Defined By Action

wd oooHow many great ideas are destroyed before they have a chance to take root? How many are discarded by the neglect of time? Due to fear of failure or a lack of self-confidence? The time to wait is over, and the time for action is here. Taking action is THE ingredient that turns the perfect combination of raw materials into a masterpiece. Life is defined by the actions one takes or, in many cases, the inaction.

I wanted to share a few things I have learned about grasping your life by the throat through action. None of them are complicated to do, but they can be daunting, and I continually have to remind myself about these things.

Forget your Fears

We are all afraid at some point. Fear has served its purpose in your life to help keep you safe in a wild world, but it can become too much for people to function at the level of their highest capabilities. What is there to be afraid of? Action will defeat fear. Always!

inactionIf you stretch yourself, reaching for something you want, what is the worst thing? Fear will stop you from getting because you may be hurt, but that cocoon you exist in has become a cage, and it is time to let that go. Action will destroy fear.

Ignore the negative voices of others and even your mind. When someone behaves without fear, it can make people uncomfortable because their worries are displayed in comparison. Encourage the negative to seek positive actions. Actions will defeat fear.

Recognize your fear, thank it for caring and then do what you should. Move forward with all of the drive and ambition that you have in your heart. You are a bright light that doesn’t need to be hidden anymore. It is your time to shine through the dim fog of fear. Action will destroy fear.

Focus on Your Voice

There is a voice guiding our actions in each of us, and it performs this duty perfectly and for our greater good. Unfortunately, many of us lack a practical aptitude for hearing this voice, much less following it.

The voice is not in your mind but in your heart, and it can only be heard when you quiet your mind and listen. This is the guide that can tell you what you need to know and help guide your steps toward your dreams. To quiet the reason is a simple breathing practice, focusing on your breath and not paying attention to the endless stream of thoughts in your mind. 99% of these are not essential or relevant.

If you have a fail, it is this voice that will tell you to keep on going. Regardless of what others or your mind think, your greatness will be revealed when listening to this voice. Quiet your mind and focus on your voice. It is never wrong and will guide you into the action and places you need to go. You have to have faith and follow what it tells you. This is admittedly difficult to do, but what have you got to lose? A life of comfortable mediocrity?

Be Conscious of Your Vibration

Quantum physics has proven that each object globally projects a measurable vibration based on its physical makeup. You and I are no different, with the minor exception that human being seems to be able to adjust their vibration by changing how they perceive the world. Your thoughts are paramount to this. You can’t control all of your thoughts because they come pretty rapidly sometimes. Yet we have total control over the views we pay attention to and, of course, our reaction to those thoughts.

In a nutshell, focus on the thoughts that come from love, such as kindness, joy, peace, hope, benevolence, empathy, truth, faith, and compassion. They provide a higher vibration and power.   Give no attention to thoughts like envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment, guilt, inferiority, lies, superiority, or ego, which are all thoughts of fear. These lower vibrations will thwart your plans and make your life less enjoyable.

Positive thoughts are the motivation for our best actions. Our actions will define us. Many believe that your vibration will determine what type of life you will experience. Be conscious of which thoughts you focus on, and they will evaluate the experiences that come into your life. The quality of people you meet and the success you ultimately enjoy through your experience.

Kick  It Now

All of this is to urge you to go for it. If you have a mountain in front of you, climb it! Start swimming if there is an ocean between you and what you want. Now is your time.

All people are born with extraordinary abilities, and how much of those the world will see is determined by your conscious decisions to take action. If you want to lose weight, start doing something to lose weight!

If you want to be successful, start doing what you can to achieve your goals. There is absolutely nothing between you and your dreams than a lack of action.

Move Toward the Positive

Suppose you are honestly looking at your thoughts and see too many ideas and feelings falling into the negative. In that case, it is time for you to reevaluate how you are thinking and to start learning how to say “goodbye” to negativity. It is simple to do, but it isn’t easy. We are hardwired to be harmful, and changing that programming takes a slight rise in your level of consciousness and embracing the present moment of your life. Here are some ideas on how to move toward the positive.

Negativity Rising

Negativity rises from us as we deny the present moment of experience we are having. That means we spend too much time living in our future or our past and not enough time in the only moment we have, the present. Much of our negativity comes from fears we face, which result from putting our thoughts in the future. Unease, anxiety, tension, stress, and worry are all from a fixation on the future and projections of the mind about what might happen. Our brains can create all sorts of doomsday scenarios for all aspects of our lives. We could be fired, get into an accident, lose someone, become a victim of a crime, or do any other horrible thing. A negative mindset is a natural result if you live with these fantasies.

So too, are the visits of the past and their ghosts of forgiveness. Suppose you allow your mind to troll through memories, searching for moments of guilt, regret, resentment, grievances, sadness, or any other negative experience. In that case, you are taking yourself to a place of negativity that may or may not even be real. We all remember things the way we want to remember them. Two people can see the same event and come to two different stories. Your memories of wrongs done in the past are as accurate. The past is over, and there isn’t anything you can do to change it. Learn whatever lesson you can glean, but leave the emotion out because all that will do is take you into a negative headspace, which is out of the only place we can live here, at the current moment. Forgive the past and those in it, most importantly yourself. It is all water over a dam, and it is our most significant challenge to let it go.

Today is All We Have

Accepting where we are at this moment is the beginning of any significant journey. When it comes to leaving negativity behind, look at where you are and decide what you want the tenor of this moment to be. Your thoughts will determine if you will spend time in the painful negative or the positive area of your life. Look at the things in your present moment—the weather, the sounds, the feelings, and the experience right now. Look at your thoughts and bring them into the present moment, rather than focus on the past’s wrongs or future worries. Focus on your experience now because that is all you will ever have.

Through a conscious look at the present, you can observe the things creating negativity, unease, discontent, and tension within you. Usually, they will arise because of an unnecessary judgment of others and resistance to the present moment. We develop habits of thought, just like we develop patterns of behavior. Most people take the same route to work because it takes less thought and effort to do this. The same can be said for our thoughts. Our patterns are developed and continually play along on an unconscious loop. Only the light of conscious awareness can interrupt these patterns. All negativity is a resistance to what is in one form or another. Stop resisting and move forward happily.

Self Observation

This is the tool for operating on a more conscious level of living. Watch your mental environment and see how it contributes to your emotional state. Our thoughts are naturally attached to an emotion based on our experiences in life. Try to direct your attention inward and observe the thoughts your mind is producing. Look at what you are feeling because of the ideas you have. Negative thoughts will lead to negative emotions. When an uncomfortable feeling appears, look at how you are avoiding, resisting, or denying your life right now.

Often people resent others and are not used to expressing this because of the fear of hurting feelings or making someone angry. But the emotion you feel is there for a reason, and bottling it up is unhealthy and leads to resentment and negativity. The cure is natural. Stop doing what you are doing and speak to the people involved, fully expressing what you feel. Or let go of the negativity you are feeling around the situation. It serves absolutely no definite purpose. All it will give you is powerful negativity in your life.

Acceptance

When negativity arises, learn to accept the things about you which have allowed them to rise to the surface. It is a part of your story, not one that has to run on forever. Once you practice accepting your thoughts, emotions, and reactions to things, please take the next step and start to notice the catalysts to these feelings as they come up in your mind. Seeing the entrance of all negative emotions will allow you to stop yourself from creating them in the first place.

An honest acceptance of all things, people, situations, actions, and feelings about them will eliminate negative emotions. You are living in this moment and conscious of your experience, and that will allow you to function without judgment and resistance to your life as it is. Negativity has no chance to be created in your life.

“Protect your enthusiasm from the negativity of others.”- H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

“I think we manifest the very thing we put out. If you’re putting out negativity, you will retrieve that same sentiment. If you emanate joy, it comes back to you.”- Robin Wright.

Achieving Some Personal Growth

personal growth
These walls are built when we are young and live in our minds as limiting beliefs.

Look around and see what is there to stop you from achieving personal growth. As I examine the life that I am living, I see things that limit what I can accomplish. There are walls, both literally and figuratively, around me, making taking some actions seem difficult to nearly impossible.

The excuses of life are used, one on top of another, each with their own fear. Unfortunately, it appears that once you start to accept limits in one area of life, they will creep into all parts of your life and stop you from being your best and accomplishing your worthwhile goals and dreams. Don’t be discouraged. The exciting thing is that if you look inside, there is an answer. It is the strength and courage to accomplish great things. You have to believe in yourself, and doing this is the best kind of personal growth.

Beliefs Lead to Personal Growth

I believe that all of us are born with the ability.

personal growth
Escape to the greatness of your potential. Look deep inside of yourself and see what is there.

And the potential to be great and to accomplish fantastic things. The barriers we have built for ourselves often hold us back from achieving success in our pursuits. The simple belief that “I am simply not good enough.” Or “I don’t deserve it.” can stop almost any endeavor before they have a chance to get off the ground. These barriers are some of the most significant factors forcing us to act in a small way when more meaningful, dynamic actions are required. If we operate with a slight intention, we can’t be too surprised when the results are negligible. Only through a concentration on personal growth will we see a bigger target and act more significantly.

Understand Limits Honestly for Personal Growth

So it comes down to learning to look at your limitations with honest thought and recognition, understanding what is in your way and what is an excuse. All of us have built walls called beliefs that

have been ingrained into us since we were very young. Some served us well and helped to keep us safe. Yet it is my recent experience that safe isn’t going to lead to growth, and only through growth and change can new things come into your life. If you never do anything differently, your life will never change, and you will never meet the goals you dream about. They will remain wisps of thought, floating out in front of you like a movie on a screen. It is just imagination, and it isn’t real. By making a plan for personal development and taking action, they can become real and tangible parts of your life.

Positive Choice for Personal Growth

The choice is to start to look for a boulder answer. To stop limiting ourselves and move forward toward our dreams with an understanding that success, in one form or another, is out there and only through action and belief in ourselves is it attainable. There is greatness in each person, and it is time to knock down the walls that limit you, which are merely the creation of your thoughts and experiences. Your

Only escaping the walls of your limiting beliefs can make others see your contribution.

The ego will be pleased to keep you in a safe place without challenges, safe and sound. That is because safe and sound provide an illusion that looks like an excellent way to live. Ask yourself: are you satisfied? Have you reached your potential? Have you found the gold that lies inside you? Perhaps you are one of the lucky ones that have, but if you haven’t, then I urge you to reach for your goals and find the board that you were meant to play your game on and by all means, PLAY IT BIG! Escape from the walls of your perceived limitations, pick a dream, and chase it for personal growth.

With personal growth, you may even reach the Hall of Fame…………………….

Integrity and Action

thoughts and actionsThe actions we decide to dictate our lives at every moment. I will point out the critical part of that sentence; they are things that YOU DECIDE to complete. Taking actions, or lack thereof, creates our lives’ reality, and nothing will show the world more about one’s natural character. Over time, your consistent actions will more accurately describe your morals and character than anything else. Your actions tell the world what you want in your life.

Taking action always speaks much louder than words. You can decide if your efforts are for selfish gain alone or if there is hope for the well-being of others and yourself in your life. To fully understand a person’s motives, I hear their words but listen to their actions because it is what a person does that the truth lies.

Your Actions Speak for Themselves

taking actionWhen you meet someone new, it can be difficult to tell what type of person they are simply listening to their words. However, observe their actions, and you will know all you can think about them. People may say they value other people and their feelings, but if they are rude or demeaning to others, they do not. They may seem helpful in their words, but if their actions judge others, spread rumors about other people, or are plain mean, they are not pleasant. Trust your eyes.

Actions are the accurate lie detectors of life. It is impossible to fake your actions forever. You can affect it for a short time, but keep observing a person’s activities, and you will see their true selves. Watch others, and then watch yourself and see what the actions you follow tell you about the person found. If you can look without bias at your actions, you will see your message to the world. Is it the message you want to represent you?

Make Your Actions Count

taking actionOur actions will speak for us, not only to those around us, but to get what we want in life. It is one thing to say I want to be successful, but another to take the steps and perform the tasks that will get you to that goal. Nothing will happen by magic unless you count the magic that does come from taking simple actions toward reaching your goal.

What is stopping you from taking a step? Failure? Failing is in the eyes of the beholder and depends on how you evaluate your experience. Sometimes things don’t go as planned, but the lessons we learn from the action allow us to find the secret to completing that goal and doing it uniquely. When you make a demand on the Universe with your activities, there will be a response, and it will most likely lead you where you want to go.

Finally, to defeat fear, there is no better remedy than action. Fear is just a thought in your head that gains momentum as you worry about it. It is usually not a real danger that you are in but a fear of uncertainty. It may be coming in the future, but it will likely not. The action tells the story of your ideas. Are they valid, or are they foolish? Only the test of deeds will show this.

Your dreams are there on the other side of fear. Trust your faith; it will all work out for the best.

“Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” ―Thomas Jefferson.

“An idea not coupled with action will never get any bigger than the brain cell it occupied.” ―Arnold Glasow.

“People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do.” ―Lewis Cass.

“Let your performance do the thinking.” ―Charlotte Brontë.

“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” ―Dale Carnegie

You Control the Action

The Law of Action- Action must be taken to result in creating anything.

Nothing happens until we decide to take action. You can have the most significant plans in the world for accomplishing a goal, but until you take steps to put a plan into motion, it is just an image of your mind—no more real than thoughts about the Easter Bunny. But action makes something that was just once an intention in your mind come into reality. It takes courage to take action on a plan and try to bring it to life. Many have thought that imagining what they want and seeing it in visualization is enough, but it is only a part of the process; an action is energy breathing power into our dreams and creating concrete. Only air existed before. Where can you take action today to move your dreams and goals toward becoming a reality?

Time for Action

Action can be taken at any time in life and provide those who take it with many adventures and exciting experiences. They will create inventions, books will be written, and knowledge will be gained when you decide to take action. We have to see what results.   The best thing about it is that anyone, as far as I know, is capable of taking action at any moment. If you have been hesitant or feeling fearful, taking action is the cure. Fear is erased with action. Once you move on something, you see what happens, and then at least you know. Knowledge is not fearful.

Many people can do great things and think great thoughts about how the world should be run or how a business could be different. All possess the capacity to take action on those thoughts and create them in this reality, yet very few do this. Why? Fear is generally the reason. Fer that they cannot accomplish the task or fear it won’t work out. Or fear in general about life. Now is the time to take action, but fear to bed and see what essential things shake out of your goals and dreams. Action is the only way.

Our Blocks to Action

It is a simple concept on the surface to apply yourself fully to what you already know you want, but we are people. Each of us possesses our unique load of difficulties, differences, and fears that can prevent us from applying ourselves and our efforts toward finding our dream. Fear is the biggest of these, and it can make the strongest of people pause their endeavors.

personal developmentThere are two types of fear that lead to people never applying themselves toward their goals. The first is the fear of failure. This is the fear that tells you not to try because you are going to fail anyway. We all have attempted to do something in our lives and experienced failure, and it hurts! Our ego remembers, and when we are put in a similar feeling position, the fear of failure kicks in and stops us before we begin.

The second is a fear of success. There are several reasons that people fear success. It could be a fear of finding out what they dreamed of wasn’t all they thought it was in the first place. As long as you never try to make your dream a reality, it will always be perfect in your mind. If I could be wrong about that, what else am I wrong about? The fear of success paralyzes and stops a real effort from being taken toward accomplishing our dreams. The law of action defeats all types of anxiety. You are not fearful of the moment you take action, and you are focused on taking action.

Focus on Your Voice

There is a voice that guides our actions in each of us, and it performs this duty with perfection and for our greater good. Unfortunately, many of us lack a practical aptitude for hearing this voice, much less following it.

The voice is not in your mind but your heart, and it can only be heard when you quiet the mind and listen. This guide can tell you what you need to know and help guide your steps toward your dreams. Some call it intuition. To quiet the mind is a simple breathing practice, focusing on your breath and not paying attention to the endless stream of thoughts in your mind. A large portion of which are not necessary, relevant, or fear-based.

If you experience a setback, this voice will tell you to keep ongoing. Regardless of what other people or your mind think, your greatness will be revealed when listening to this voice. Quiet your mind and focus on your inner voice. Take action. It is never wrong.

Take Action Right Now

Nothing has ever taken place in the history of the world without action of some kind. You can safely bet that the rest of your life will go that way. Decide what you want and take action toward achieving it. If you had a seed in your hand, it would not grow until you accept the action of planting it into the soil. Then it can do what it is meant to do. Other things in life are the same. Someone has to draw the blueprints, fund the project, and start to process moving. Action makes everything happen.

Since something is better than nothing, the action is essential because nothing is all you get in life without it. It is the most critical factor in creating anything in your life. It is a matter of getting energy in motion, and that motion will make things happen. Good, bad, or neutral, the Law of Action brings all things into our reality.

“Actions speak louder than words.” – Abraham Lincoln.

“Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” – Chaucer.

“Willing is not enough. We must do.” -Johann Von Goethe

Emotional

How does an event or situation make you feel?

Research indicates when people are feeling physical pain, general malaise, and chronic weariness, the cause can be linked to unexpressed emotion.  As a society, and primarily as men, we don’t learn how to adequately express our feelings or even notice the message they are trying to send us.

Uncomfortable or painful experiences are often pushed to the back burner of our minds because it is more comfortable at the moment to ignore rather than deal with the feelings they cause.  Unfortunately, these feelings still exist in our lives, even if we ignore them.  Learning to process our emotions healthily will increase our physical health and well-being, spiritually and mentally.  A person can express themselves by learning how to use appropriate words and actions in reaction to their emotions.

Noticing Your Feelings

It is essential to take a moment and see the emotions you are feeling. Just because you are feeling a certain way doesn’t mean you have to act on it. It means that you need to start noticing these emotions are there. This recognition is the first step in not being overwhelmed.  We have become so adept in our society at glossing over things with distraction (gaming, computers, media entertainment) That rarely is there a moment of silence to recognize what your emotions are telling you. Take that moment and notice how you feel. Learn to express them appropriately through words and actions.

Reflecting on Emotions

Ask some simple questions.  From where is this feeling coming? Why am I feeling it now? What is this emotion trying to tell me?  Seeking honest answers will give you a clue about any underlying emotional issues hiding in the background. The more you understand your feelings, the better you can deal with life. Instinctually we don’t want to show the world that something is bothering us or we are affected by things. Inside we view it as a weakness, but the real gap comes from not understanding the message of our emotions.

Strength in Acceptance

Many situations in life do not occur from a conscious choice.  If you are dealing with death, loss of job, accident, illness, aging, or betrayal, these are complicated situations that lead us to fight back in unhealthy ways. Denial, escaping into fantasy, substance abuse, manic activity, or overstimulation can be standard ways to deal with the flood of emotions hitting you.  Until you accept a circumstance as accurate, it is impossible to deal with it in an emotionally healthy way. Taking something doesn’t mean you give up. It only means that you understand where you are and why. This action will give you power over your emotions and how to deal with them.

Using Your Power

Becoming emotionally and intellectually self-aware will allow you to create insights into situations that will make the decision-making process easier to process. This infrastructure will work in all aspects of your life because you are working from a platform of honesty.  Our feelings are there to help guide us, and when they get attention, you are proactive. You are starting to write your own story.

Here are some emotions and what they might be trying to tell you.

Bitterness- Showing you where you need to heal, where you’re still holding judgments on others, and, most importantly, yourself.

Resentment- Letting you know you live in the past and not allow the present to be as it is.

Discomfort- There is an opportunity for change right now. Pay attention to what is happening and try to do something different than you typically do.

Anger- Warning sign, which displays your passions lie. It will also show up when boundaries are crossed or when you see things in your world that you feel need to change — anger is an excellent guide to your inner workings but a poor creator of your behavior.

Disappointment- It can be hard to deal with situations that don’t work out. It shows you are above apathy and still care about people and things.  Disappointments in our past not dealt with and accepted will lead to apathy and lack of expectation.

Guilt- If you are still living in the shadow of other people’s expectations of you.  Mistakes happen, things get broken, other people are not always going to like what you do. That is their emotional baggage, not yours.  Accept responsibility for your actions, put them behind you, and move forward.

Shame- It happens when we internalize the expectations of others on how we should be or live or who we have been or have lived in the past. Time to reconnect with yourself and understand who you are and what makes you happy.

Anxiety- This is a feeling that stems from fear — usually fear of the past or fear of the future.  You need to come into the present moment and let the past be the past and the coming fall where it will.  Anxiety is a clear guidepost to get into the present moment. Identify the thought that is leading to a feeling of dread.

Sadness- There is a depth of feeling that brings on sadness. Sadness will display when we look at the world and care deeply about others their circumstances and situations.  Ask what is making you sad?

Whatever your emotions are today, seeking to understand how they affect you is a move toward empowerment.  No matter what you do, your feelings will exist and continue to touch you. Either you can allow them to control your life, or you can use them to determine what they are guiding you toward.

“If your emotional abilities aren’t in hand if you don’t have self-awareness, if you are not able to manage your distressing emotions if you can’t have empathy and have effective relationships, then no matter how smart you are, you are not going to get very far.” -Daniel Goleman.

“75 percent of careers are derailed for reasons related to emotional competencies, including the inability to handle interpersonal problems, unsatisfactory team leadership during times of difficulty or conflict, or inability to adapt to change or elicit trust.”  -Center for Creative Leadership.

“When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures of emotion.” -Dale Carnegie.

“When our emotional health is in a bad state, so is our level of self-esteem. We have to slow down and deal with what is troubling us so that we can enjoy the simple joy of being happy and at peace with ourselves.” -Jess C. Scott.

“The only way to change someone’s mind is to connect with them from the heart.”
-Rasheed Ogunlaru

“No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”

Universal Laws of Life

I wanted to share some thoughts with you which will hopefully help raise your consciousness. I read this in a book called Universal Laws by Jennifer O’Neill several years ago and it made me look at the world in an interesting way.  If nature is governed by a set of laws, perhaps our reality is also controlled by hard fast laws. Being aware of these laws may just allow you to get the most out of your daily experience. Some you may agree with and some you may not and that is great.  It should be an experience creating new thoughts in your head about your behavior and understanding the world a little more in a different way.  These are the 18 Universal Laws of Life and they can help you understand your life a little bit more.

My goal is to discuss each one of these laws one by one for the next 18 days.  Hopefully, it will create thought and new ways to look at life.

  1. The Law of Oneness- Everything is connected. We are all one.
  2. The Law of Vibration- Everything in the Universe vibrates or offers a vibration.
  3. The Law of Attraction- You attract into your life what you are offering vibrationally.
  4. The Law of Allowing– The state of allowing is the purest state of getting what you want. Allowing things to move without resistance and to evolve and grow naturally.
  5. The Law of Resistance– Anything offering resistance will manifest itself into energy blockages or stuck energy.
  6. The Law of Detachment– The law of releasing or letting go of your desires.
  7. The Law of Abundance- There is more than enough in the Universe, nothing is limited.
  8. The Law of Intention- Directing energy as an intention is the first step to creativity and desire which results in creating the things you want.
  9. The Law of Action– Action must be taken in order to result in manifestation.
  10. The Law of Cause and Effect– Every action has an equal reaction or consequence.
  11. The Law of Pure Potential- Everything and everyone has infinite possibilities.
  12. The Law of Rhythm- There is an ebb and flow of life. All things have a rhythm, a cycle or the ebb and flow.
  13. The Law of Polarity- All things have an opposite available. Yin and Yang,  these complementary opposites are part of the greater whole.
  14. Law of Relativity- Everything and everyone will face challenges or tests that will allow them to find their strength within.
  15. Law of Dharma- A purpose, all things have been created for a purpose.
  16. The Law of Giving and Gratitude- The Universe dictates, you must give in order to receive.
  17. The Law of Correspondence- Simply put, reality cannot contradict itself.
  18. The law of Love- Love is universal, energy in its purest and most powerful state.

I will be spending the next 18 days exploring each of these laws and sharing my thoughts on how they affect our lives. It should be a fun experience.

“The Universal Law is impartial. It will give you anything you believe. It will throw you garbage or roses depending on the energy you put in. You are the one in charge, and you must accept that and stand alone. If you think God is coming down to fix things for you, forget it. God is out playing golf.” -Stuart Wilde

“Freedom is independence of the compulsory will of another, and in so far as it tends to exist with the freedom of all according to a universal law, it is the one sole original inborn right belonging to every man in virtue of his humanity.”-Immanuel Kant
